TRAVEL AUTHORIZATION FOR MINORS UNDER 18 YEARS-OLD
The travel authorization for minors is a document required by the Brazilian authorities for a child to travel (alone or accompanied by one of the parents or a third party), on any occasion to and within and from Brazil.
The authorization must be signed by the parents or legal representatives.
REQUIREMENTS:
• Letter from both parents authorizing the minor to apply for a Brazilian visa (when applicable).
• If both parents are Brazilian nationals, they must come in person to the Consulate, with their Brazilian identification documents (valid passport or identity card).
• Copy of the Birth Certificate with the parents' names
• 2 photos of the child - 3x4cm, front face and white background.
• 2 copies of the Travel Authorization Form, completed, signed and notarized when applicable:
a) If one of the parents is foreigner, he or she must sign the travel authorization form before a notary public and have the notary's signature certified by the Provincial Government (usually, the notaries society or the law society), before submitting the authorization to the Consulate for legalization.
b) If one or both parents cannot come in person to the Consulate, they will need to fill out the trip authorization and them before a notary public and have notary's signature certified by the Provincial government (usually, the notaries society or the law society), before submitting the authorization to the Consulate for legalization.
FEE:
CAD$36.00 per child.
FORMS OF PAYMENT:
• Money order or certified cheque only.
• Payable to the "Consulate-General of Brazil".
• The Consulate does not accept payments in cash, personal cheques or debit/ credit cards.
NOTES:
• The travel authorization application can be included with the Brazilian passport or Brazilian visa request.
• Make sure you have both tracking numbers for your own control. Due to the large number of documents received everyday, the Consulate is unable to confirm the arrival of any application.
