Brazilian Consulate in San Francisco Implements Money Order-Only Policy
Clients requiring visas are requested to provide US Postal Service money orders to cover Consulate fees.
San Francisco, California - January 28th, 2005:
Brazil Fiesta staff members were informed earlier this week of the Brazilian Consulate in San Francisco's policy of accepting official money orders as their only form of payment. The policy goes into effect Tuesday, February 1st. The recent news puts the San Francisco Consulate in line with the money order-only policy currently in place at many other Brazilian Consulates throughout the United States.
"We realize this creates an extra step for those requesting a visa" stated Alex Monteiro, President of Brazil Fiesta. "We recommend clients to obtain their passport photo(s) required for visa requests at a United States Postal office where they can also obtain an official money order". Brazil Fiesta had originally collected visa fees and service fees in total and paid the Consulate directly. "We can still accept checks, money orders, Visa, MasterCard, and American Express as payment for our service fees and shipping costs", he concluded.
Consulate fees vary depending on the type of visa requested. Tourist visas have a $110.00 Consulate fee ($100.00 visa fee plus a $10.00 absentee fee). Non-technical business visas have a $170.00 fee ($100.00 visa fee, $50.00 business visa fee, $10.00 absentee fee). Money orders should be made payable to the Brazilian Consulate. Brazil Fiesta's service fees as well as shipping fees can be paid directly to Brazil Fiesta with check, cash, Visa, MasterCard, or American Express. Please contact Brazil Fiesta for pricing on other Consular fees as well as their service fees.
